Drafting system in Pakistan domestic, the right decision? #PakistanCup

Just before the start of the Pentangular Trophy (renamed the Pakistan Cup for this edition) is a 50-over tournament, which has particularly been arranged to pick up players for the England Series happening in June/July 2016. The Draft system similar to the one in Pakistan Super League was brought in to select the players for the five teams for Pakistan Cup happening from 19th April to 1st May in Faisalabad. The draft system proved to be flawed in many ways, totally mindless and uncalled for. It will be helpful to the ones well connected and the one already on top. In light of the fact that a competition which was intended to compensate domestic cricket performers will be neglected. The likes of Sadaf Hussain, Shadab and Hasan Mohsin who were U 19 performers weren't viewed as adequate for the Pakistan Cup proving that the draft system was a total chaos. They were later on picked up as PCB allowed each of the teams to pick another U-19 player. Another drawback of this draft was that captains decided to pick players they had recently played with and personal likes and dislikes of the captains and management was involved too instead of players being selected on merit. Federals, captained by Misbah ul haq, picked up most of the players who was part of Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League.

The draft system did no good to the players who have been performing at domestic level and instead the tried and tested players were taken by the captains and coaches of the five teams. The reason PCB gave t support the draft system was that it would grab public attention like it did in the first edition of Pakistan Super League. Taking into consideration how Pakistan failed at two major tournaments, Asia Cup 2016 and T20 World Cup 2016, was grabbing  public attention into cricket more important or revamping the cricket structure by looking for talent among the domestic players more important? Clearly the latter was ignored by the PCB when they incorporated the draft system for the Pakistan Cup ignoring a lot of performers at domestic level like Usman Salahuddin and Faisal Iqbal and taking Ahmed Shahzad and Umar Akmal again who failed miserably in the last two tournaments Pakistan played. The Draft system is evident in being unfair to players like Usman Salahuddin who have been working hard to prove their talent and get noticed by the chief selectors. Another case gone wrong because of the draft system which needs attention is Arsal Sheikh from the U 19 Squad,  got selected by Federals despite his mediocre stats. A lot of other U 19 performers were neglected and Arsal Sheikh, being the son of Shakeel Sheikh, member of the PCB board of Governors, got preference over them. The Draft system also included a rule making it worse that the Region selectors were only allowed to pick U-19 players from their region making it compulsory for Federal region to pick Arsal Sheikh ahead of Shadab Khan who finish as the joint-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in the U-19 World Cup,

Instead of working on the problems which really needs attention like changing the quality of the balls used in the domestic season and the conditions of the pitch, PCB decides to bring in the draft system which is resourceful only when leagues like Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League or the Big Bash League are concerned. Changes like these draft systems aren't going to help revamp the cricket structure and some serious other problems should be dealt with and given attention so that Pakistan cricket can flourish and perform on international level.
